The dark and mysterious world of the occult has its very own style and fashion of jewelry; some ornamental and others utilitarian.

Combining or Confusing?

The occult, Goth, and Emo should not be combined together or confused as being one. Goth and Emo are a way of dressing and a state of mind. They remind people of doom and gloom, dress in black with heavy makeup and adorn themselves with zippers, chains, jewelry and other bobbles. The occult is a belief and deals in the supernatural. It may be accompanied by similar makeup and attire, but that is where the similarities end. One person could but salute when be involved in more than one of these at the same time, but they’re not all inclusive.

Fun or functional?

Wearing a skeleton earring or a black cat charm around your neck does not an occult conjurer make. On the other hand, talismans and amulets in one by members of the occult can be and are used to conjure spirits and occasionally cast spells. Unlimited supplies can be found on line. There is vintage jewelry, body jewelry, bracelets, rings, necklaces, ankhs, sterling silver pendants, crucifixes (inverted or otherwise), voodoo symbols, wolf’s heads, skulls and skeletons, pentagrams, miscellaneous spiritual wiccan and pagan jewelry and oddities. Pendants alone number in the hundreds, so you can see why it would be impossible to list all possibilities when it comes to jewelry and the occult. Don’t wait until last minute to order your spell casting, daemon banishing, functional jewelry however, delivery takes three weeks.

Now for the predictable disclaimer: this article in no way, shape or form confirms the existence of the occult or encourages practices or belief in such; it is purely informative and relates information found on the Internet.

Almost all fashion stems from inspiration. More than likely some item of clothing you are wearing right now was influence by something. Fashion design is a process. And it begins with this inspiration. Once the inspiration is derived, then the designs begin, followed be a collection, marketing, and more. What originally was an idea leads to a finished product that is eventually purchased by a consumer. Fortunately there is so much out there for designers to seek inspiration from. And today one of the trends popping up is occult fashion inspiration.

Clothing with a Message

One of the ways in which we see occult in fashion is through clothes that say something. It used to be “clothes were just clothes.” Today designers make clothes that make a real statement. They portray their views on the world through their designs in a very similar way that a religious preacher would give a sermon. However, these messages are a little different than a sermon. With clothing, the message is given to whoever sees; regardless of if they want to listen. And depending on the designer, it could be a subtle message or a very bold message. Common examples include religious signs on t-shirts and popular sayings on mens clothing.

Magic and Mystery Meets Fashion

In addition to fashion that has a deeper meaning, a lot of the occult inspired fashion is filled with magic and mystery. Many designers get much of their inspiration from this part of the occult culture. You might notice this imaginative, dreamlike design in pieces they are in stores today. They are very unique and freethinking. Even the design showcases more of a free spirited individual that believes in the future and has faith in the unknown – something true of someone who believes in occult culture.

Does it matter if you are a fanatic occult thinker to shop occult inspired fashions? No. However, an appreciation of the inspiration behind it will make you a more well rounded individual.
